Artist's Comments

Wore this to the Arizona Renaissance Festival in Feb. '07... maybe you saw me there. Although back then I didn't have this awesome mane hair, I had furry yarn that made it look like a dreadlocked hyena Jesus. rofl.

It's got its flaws, both aesthetically and functionally, but I still really love it.
Random shots of me wearing it:

The tail I made to go with this:

This mask was made of FastMache brand instant papier mache mix, over a base of cardboard and styrofoam. The paint is generic acrylic craft paint; the eyes are from Van Dyke's Taxidermy. As for the mane? It's real human hair! :O If you're curious as to how I did it, here's a few in-progress shots.

I've since made another mask and will post that one when I get some better photos of it.

I hope I already said this, but I will again just to make sure: god that thing is so fucking gorgeous. It's probably my favourite ...thing.. of this sort... that i've ever seen. So so good. I can't wait to see the other mask you said you've made!

This turned out very well. Your flaws are hardly noticeable. And I just love the eyes :)

how heavy is it? what's it made of? it's very amazingly done!
:iconzenithfoxie:
I haven't weighed it but based on the weight of my other mask, it's probably no more than a pound and a half-- I would say even less. It's made of papier-mache over cardboard and styrofoam.
